2011 review: environment

Speed read

The UK has seen continued development in the green taxes and regulation arena throughout 2011, including the introduction of a Carbon Price Floor and changes to the Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency scheme. This comes alongside some movements on an international front, paving the way for the continued challenge of building a more cohesive global policy. Through 2012 the government will be looking to align thinking throughout the Coalition on environmental tax policy, to ensure the proposed changes strike the balance between delivering effective environmental change, raising revenue and the challenges of the current economic situation.
