HMRC has published online learning modules which were originally produced to help its staff understand recent legislation and are now available to all (at www.lexisurl.com/TaIVg). The modules provide an overview of the compliance checks system cover information and inspection powers and explain the penalties regime introduced in FA 2008 Sch 36. Modules are also available on more detailed aspects of the new penalties regime.
