EU applications for authorised economic operator (AEO) status must be made electronically through the EU trader portal from 1 October 2019.
After 1 October, there will be a transition period, until 29 November inclusive, to allow processing of existing paper applications not yet accepted. Although not mandatory, AEO status is an internationally-recognised standard for ensuring supply chain security. Traders must already hold an EORI number before applying for AEO status.
