Bahamas added to UK’s money laundering watchlist

The Treasury has added the Bahamas to its list of foreign jurisdictions regarded as posing risks through their unsatisfactory money laundering controls. This follows recommendations of the international Financial Action Task Force (FATF), issued after its October meeting.

The Treasury has added the Bahamas to its list of foreign jurisdictions regarded as posing risks through their unsatisfactory money laundering controls. This follows recommendations of the international Financial Action Task Force (FATF), issued after its October meeting. The Bahamas has been added to the category of jurisdictions for whom businesses are advised to ‘take appropriate actions to minimise the associated risks, which may include enhanced due diligence measures in high risk situations’.

This category also includes Pakistan, Trinidad and Tobago, Botswana, Ethiopia, Ghana, Serbia, Sri Lanka, Tunisia and Yemen.
