The Chancellor faces a tough task. A mere statement on the economy will not satisfy his critics or his own party.
There will have to be some meat on the bone.
Moreover it is not just Osborne we will be hearing from at the end of November. The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) will deliver a new forecast for the economy and the public finances both of which are potentially rather problematical for the government.
