The government has laid the Cross-border Trade (Public Notices) (EU Exit) (Revocation) Regulations, SI 2019/1380, revoking the power for HM Treasury officials to change customs, VAT, or excise law by means of public notices for a temporary period after Brexit. The revocation has effect from 25 October.
The decision to revoke follows an intervention by the Public Law Project charity, who were preparing a judicial review challenge to the policy. See bit.ly/2q6VdDu.
