Stephen Edge Slaughter & May brings us the City view on the Budget
 
Given the circumstances this was always going to be a Budget with more of a political and economic dimension than with much in the way of detailed tax interest — though the Chancellor claimed that it was a great reforming Budget that must be questioned.
 
On the anti-avoidance side there were few surprises. HMRC will no doubt consider that it is in 'mopping-up' mode now that the disclosure regime appears to be operating satisfactorily (both from HMRC's point of view and in fairness from the point of view of taxpayers and their advisers).
