While the future change to the basic rate of income tax and the associated removal of the lower rate band may have hit the headlines (2p or not 2p!) in what is expected to be Gordon Brown's final Budget statement there was once again comparatively little to excite tax professionals from an employment tax perspective. However further moves to align tax and National Insurance were delivered as was the clear message that employers should be mindful of the impact on the environment in developing their employment policies.
