In his eleventh Budget the Chancellor of the Exchequer said he wanted 'long-term investment and environmentally sustainable growth … now and in the future' to promote Britain's success in the global economy. This year's Budget certainly had a greener hue than many that preceded it and in the 80 Budget Notes issued to explain the Budget changes no fewer than a quarter of them contained measures related to the environment.
