Business Tax: PAYE code delays
HMRC's review of 2010/11 tax codes identified as being 'at most risk of error' will not be completed by the start of the new tax year the ICAEW Tax Faculty warned. HMRC is 'very keen' for any taxpayer who thinks a code may be wrong to make contact as soon as possible the Faculty said. 'Without contact from the taxpayer or their agent HMRC may be using a certain amount of guesswork when attempting to correct the position on review.'
HMRC has asked employers who do not receive a notice P9 for an employee to continue using the existing code.
