Colombia officially signed a FATCA intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with the US based on the model 1A IGA on 20 May. Previously, Colombia had reached an agreement in substance for a model 1A IGA with the US and has been treated by the US Treasury as having an IGA in effect from 23 April 2014.
Meanwhile, El Salvador signed the OECD’s multilateral convention on mutual administrative assistance in tax matters on Monday, becoming the 86th signatory to what the OECD calls ‘the most comprehensive instrument for boosting international co-operation against offshore tax evasion’.
