The Companies and Limited Liability Partnerships (Protection and Disclosure of Information and Consequential Amendments) Regulations SI 2024/1377 extend the circumstances in which individuals can apply to have their usual residential address (URA) ‘protected’ on the public companies register (ie not available for public inspection). With effect from 27 January 2025 individuals will be able to apply for protection where their URA is not the relevant company’s current registered office address. Before the changes made by these Regulations it had not been possible to protect a URA where it had formerly been used as a company’s registered office address. Equivalent changes are also made for LLPs.
