Consultation on further pensions remedy tax regs

HMRC is consulting (until 19 June 2023) on further draft regulations to deal with the tax implications of the public service pensions remedy under the Public Service Pensions and Judicial Offices Act 2022 and the Public Service Pension Schemes (Rectification of Unlawful Discrimination) (Tax) Regulations, SI 2023/113.

The draft Public Service Pension Schemes (Rectification of Unlawful Discrimination) (Tax) (No 2) Regulations 2023 set out technical changes in various areas, including calculating pension input amounts (for example where contribution rights have been varied under the remedy), and applying the correct tax treatment to additional benefits paid to members as a result of the remedy.
