The Charity Tax Group (CTG) welcomes the publication of HMRC-commissioned research on understanding donor behaviour in relation to gift aid.

The Charity Tax Group (CTG) welcomes the publication of HMRC-commissioned research on understanding donor behaviour in relation to gift aid. The research was commissioned as part of the Gift Aid Working Group, of which CTG is a leading member, which was set up earlier this year to look at reform of the gift aid declaration and changes to the way intermediaries operate gift aid, following the gift aid and digital giving consultation in summer 2013.

Kevin Russell, CTG vice-chairman, commented: ‘This research is very welcome. It provides useful insights into the question of how to increase the take up of gift aid – a stated government priority. The behaviour insights that emerge will benefit charities, fundraisers and HMRC alike, as we all seek to drive up tax effective giving from every donor eligible to give in this way.’
