Among the provisions covering electronic communications and data sharing, the Bill contains protection for HMRC tax data once it has left the department, to ensure HMRC has continuing controls over data shared under new powers in the Bill. It also contains a provision relaxing the current legal constraints on disclosing non-identifying information, allowing HMRC to share information more widely, for purposes in the public interest.
