Tough choices change and fairness are the themes coming out of the three main parties' 2010 Manifestos. The key question for the next Government is what size and combination of public spending cuts and tax increases need to be put in place to achieve each party's stated aim of tackling the budget deficit within the next four years.

The issue of tax increases is a major concern for all whether low middle or high earners. Tax increases need to be balanced against encouraging economic growth as it is the latter which will go a long way in helping to reduce the budget deficit.
