The chancellor of the exchequer Jeremy Hunt who was only appointed to that post on 14 October 2022 delivered an emergency statement on 17 October 2022. The statement brought forward a number of measures originally intended to be announced on 31 October 2022 in the Medium-Term Fiscal Plan (MTFP).
In his statement the chancellor announced ‘a reversal of almost all of the tax measures set out in the Growth Plan 2022 that have not been legislated for in parliament.’
