6 April 2009 is fast approaching and from this date all employers with 50 or more employees will have to file their employee starter and leaver notifications and other similar information online to HMRC. A new A4 version of the P45 will replace the old-style A5 size on the same day. All employers will also have to include date-of-birth and gender information on forms P45 and P46 whether sent online or on paper from April. All old P45 forms that are A5 in size should be destroyed as they will no longer be usable.
