The Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Scheme (Amendment) Regulations, SI 2020/18, correct errors in The Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Scheme (Amendment) (No 3) Regulations, SI 2019/1440, which transposed parts of the amended EU ETS directive into UK law to enable participation in phase IV of the scheme beginning in 2021.
The new regulations also bring certain other provisions of that earlier instrument into force before the main commencement date in January 2021 and ensure that the amendments will remain operative for the duration of any implementation period following the UK’s exit from the EU.
The new regulations come into force on 31 January 2020.
