The European Commission has announced that it is consulting with sent member states on a draft proposal on prolonging and adjusting the scope of the temporary framework for state aid measures, which was adopted on 19 March 2020 to support the economy in the context of the coronavirus outbreak.
The temporary framework provides for a relaxation of the EU state aid rules in order to support the economy in the context of the coronavirus outbreak, with its scope being extended in April, May and June 2020. The Commission is now proposing to extend the temporary framework for an additional six months until 30 June 2021, and to extend its scope by enabling member states to contribute to the fixed costs of companies that are not covered by their revenues.
