Further Rewrite Bills Published

Brian Jones HMRC Assistant Director Tax Law Rewrite Project describes two rewrite Bills recently published for consultation

The work on the Tax Law Rewrite Project made some significant advances during March 2009. In addition to the progress of the first Corporation Tax Bill through Parliament on its way to enactment as the Corporation Tax Act 2009 two further draft Bills were published for consultation. These are the second Corporation Tax Bill (see http://www.lexisurl.com/DQdD0) and the Taxation (International and Other Provisions) Bill (see http://www.lexisurl.com/fOvHL).

As with earlier rewrites the main purpose of the latest Bills is to rewrite primary tax legislation so that it is clearer and easier to use without changing its effect (except in specified minor ways).
