HMRC has issued its quarterly ‘How are we doing?’ briefing looking at HMRC’s performance against its targets for the financial year ending March 2013.

While the final figures are subject to revision and audit – with the final figures being published in its annual report and accounts in June – provisional results show HMRC has collected £20.7bn additional revenues from compliance activity in 2012/13, which HMRC says is ‘almost £2bn’ above its target for the year; and that customer service standards ‘are at their highest levels since HMRC was formed in 2005, including telephone calls answered and our speed in answering post.’
