HMRC and freedom of information

Like all public bodies, HMRC must comply with the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Iain Macleod considers information provided in connection with the policy on accelerated payment notices

The Right Honourable Anthony Blair formerly first Lord of the Treasury and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland had this to say in his memoirs:

‘Three harmless words. I look at those words as I write them and feel like shaking my head till it drops off my shoulders. You idiot. You naive foolish irresponsible nincompoop. There is really no description of stupidity no matter how vivid that is adequate. I quake at the imbecility of it.’
