HMRC has updated its tool for checking when to expect a reply from HMRC, to include a new category for questions or requests relating to employer PAYE and NICs. The tool already allows agents to check timelines for registering to use HMRC’s online services, for applying to act on behalf of a client, and for amending their details. For most PAYE and NIC subject areas, for queries submitted on 15 May 2023 the tool says that a reply can be expected by 5 June 2023. Currently, HMRC appears to be taking around three to four weeks to deal with most queries.
