Simon Yates adds to the debate on the Guardian's 'Tax Gap' series on tax avoidance
Let's get this out of the way first: I am an Islington-dwelling lifelong Guardian reader. I am a pretty much fully paid-up woolly liberal. However just to set the limits I don't own any sandals and I suspect I'd hate mung beans if I knew exactly what they were. I welcome the debate about tax avoidance which the Guardian's Tax Gap series has provoked. I believe that there are a lot of major taxpayers (or potential major taxpayers where their planning is really effective) who are not paying their fair share and that this is damaging to the UK economy...
