The government has issued a consultation document Inheritance tax: Simplifying charges on trusts (available via www.lexisurl.com/WCLiJ) which seeks views on options for simplifying the calculation of inheritance tax charges to which trusts are subjected at ten-yearly intervals and when property is withdrawn from a trust. The consultation runs until 5 October 2012.
