Improving customs and UK border procedures

printer Mail

Last week the government launched two consultations:

  • a call for evidence seeking views on how customs declaration requirements can be streamlined and how technology can be used to meet these requirements in an effective and cost effective way (closes on 8 September).
  • a call for evidence on how to improve the temporary admission (TA) procedure in the UK by simplifying procedures for traders and individuals - TA allows goods to be imported into the UK temporarily without payment of import duties, and some ways of using TA also simplify customs declaration requirements (closes on 22 September).
