The OECD has announced the establishment of its new Centre on Green Finance and Investment. The launch took place at the third OECD Green Investment Financing Forum in Tokyo on 13 October.

The main mission of the new centre is ‘to catalyse and support the transition to a green, low emissions and climate resilient global economy through the development of effective policies, institutions and instruments for green finance and investment’. The OECD intends the centre to leverage its policy and economics expertise; and provide a global platform for engaging with key players and harnessing the marketplace intelligence of private sector partners.

The OECD has published a study, A quantitative framework for analysing potential bond contributions in a low-carbon transition, which considers scenarios for the potential contribution of the bond markets to meet low carbon investment financing needs in the renewable energy, energy efficiency and low emission vehicles sectors in the 2°C energy pathway envisaged for the period to 2035.
