You've recently celebrated 33 years at Grant Thornton. How has the firm changed since you joined?

When I joined it was called Thornton Baker essentially UK based and rated the tenth largest firm. Since then it has evolved into a substantial international business rated fifth in the world with a well-defined market presence.

What are you working on at the moment?

I am advising on an incorporation exercise for a large partnership partly to take advantage of the reduction in corporate tax rates. Rather surprisingly I was asked by their bank to confirm that this exercise did not constitute aggressive tax avoidance.

What was a memorable moment of your career?

It was a great honour to receive the LexisNexis lifetime achievement award in 2007. The problem was that everybody kept asking me if I was about to...
