Several appeals including a chartered accountant who was accused of dishonesty by HMRC for following telephone guidance they gave her on VAT a large financial business that has claimed a tax deduction for financial intangibles under FA 2002 Sch 29 and various SDLT scheme challenges from HMRC.

Ken Clarke PC QC MP. For those of you with long memories when chancellor he gave a talk to HMRC officials at a party to commemorate the 300th anniversary of stamp duty and said that he wished they were more like his stamp duty people who cost him next to nothing but raised a huge amount of tax revenue and from whom he heard only once a year.
