One minute with Paul Aplin, partner, AC Mole & Sons and chairman of the ICAEW Tax Faculty Technical Committtee
Who in tax do you most admire?
The late great Philip Hardman. I first heard him speak at an all day construction industry audit course. He did the last session of the day put across some highly technical stuff and had his audience in fits of laughter. He was an utterly compelling speaker. And of course Robert Maas one of the giants of the profession. He is technically brilliant but also incredibly down to earth. He was rash enough to invite me to join the Tax Faculty Technical Committee back in 2001.
What advice would give to someone entering the profession?
You make your own career. Set your sights high and if you hit your target set them...
