How did you end up in tax?
Very much by chance; at the end of university I was at the end of my undergraduate degree I was looking around at opportunities; looked at a couple of PhD positions in microbiology and genetics. They didn’t quite excite my interest as much as I thought they might in my undergraduate course. Two things excited my interest in the graduate careers handbook; one was to become a trainee officer in the Hong Kong police force and the other was to join the Inland Revenue. And the page inviting people to join the Revenue was unique in that instead of just saying ‘here we are we think you should join us’ they set a puzzle which was quite difficult.
