Amongst the burst of activity on 17 December 2002 as promised the Inland Revenue (IR) published its much awaited consultation document on the simplification of taxation surrounding pension schemes 'Simplifying the Taxation of Pensions: Increasing Choice and Flexibility for All'. It was published alongside the Government's Green Paper on pensions 'Simplicity Security and Choice: Working and Saving for Retirement' and the proposals on the IR front need to be considered in the context of the Green Paper to some degree.
