The Office of Tax Simplification (OTS) has set out the scope of a report it plans to deliver in the Autumn, exploring options for a form of real-time reporting and payment in place of the annual self-assessment return for the self-employed and landlords of private residential property. The report will draw on the OTS’s July 2018 paper on the platform economy and its January 2019 technology discussion paper. The OTS does not intend to publish a separate formal call for evidence, but invites views from interested parties by 30 August. See bit.ly/30zuAnR.
