People and firms: Brown Butler, Devereux, Ernst & Young

Brown Butler, the Leeds-based firm, has promoted Matthew Jaques to tax partner. Jacques joined the firm in December 2010 from Baker Tilly.

Devereux announced that Ingrid Simler QC has succeeded Colin Edelman QC as Head of Chambers. She has expertise in a range of areas including employment law and taxation, and was involved in most domicile and residence cases taken on behalf of HMRC over the last decade.

Ernst & Young announced that Mark Weinberger will succeed Jim Turley at Global Chairman and CEO.
