In the July 21 issue of The Tax Journal (Issue 702) an article entitled 'Bringing tax in from the cold' put the case for post-tax measures in management systems eloquently and cogently. It recommended the 'demystifying' of tax and tax policy at board level and embedding 'post-tax thinking' in the organisation. All admirable stuff and absolutely correct in its sentiment but how do you turn thought into action? When doing this in practice I found an absence of published materials on which to draw so learnt very much by trial and error. This article takes the theoretical discussions to the next stage by codifying what I have learnt and sketching out the first steps in a move...
