HMRC has urged employers and pension providers to get ready to report PAYE in real time from April. The department is writing to employers – other than those who are already operating real-time information or RTI and those for whom an alternative start date has been specified – to make it clear that they should have plans by now to update or acquire new RTI-ready payroll software.
‘We all leave things to the last minute, but now it is time to act,’ HMRC said. ‘If they have not done this yet, employers need to do it straight away to ensure they are ready. All the information they need is on our website. Feedback from employers in the pilot is that reporting PAYE in real time is easy.’ Guidance is provided on the HMRC website at hmrc.gov.uk/rti.
