Register of overseas entities: a look back and ahead

On 24 February 2022 Russia invaded Ukraine in a major escalation of conflict in the region. The UK government swiftly responded with a raft of new laws and sanctions targeted at Putin’s regime and more broadly economic crime. One of these extended the traditional role of Companies House to capture the beneficial ownership details of overseas entities that held property or land in the UK: the register of overseas entities (RoE).
