On 26 March 2025 the Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves MP presented the government’s Spring Statement 2025.
As expected and in accordance with the commitment made at Autumn Budget 2024 Spring Statement 2025 did not constitute a major fiscal event. At the outset the Chancellor repeated the government’s commitment to deliver just one major fiscal event a year with the Chancellor suggesting she will deliver the annual Budget in autumn 2025.
While economic forecasts and welfare changes formed the majority of the Spring Statement there were some noteworthy tax-related announcements and developments including:
