The House of Commons Treasury Committee has reported on the administration and expenditure of the Chancellor's Departments in 2007/08. Much of the report is concerned with the Valuation Office Agency and the rateable value of ports a contentious issue indeed (especially if like me you live in Felixstowe) but which is beyond the scope of this article because what we are interested in is HMRC and what the Committee has to say about it.
