Jeremy de Souza who chaired the recent Stamp Taxes Practitioners Group's second Annual Conference gives us a brief overview of that conference and introduces this special mini-issue on SDLT
The STPG was founded in 2004 under the chairmanship of Lakshmi Narain of Baker Tilly in the slipstream of the adoption of SDLT on 1 December 2003. Its current membership is 83 and 46 of them were present or represented at its second Annual Conference held at PricewaterhouseCooper's Embankment Place offices on 29 October.
The STPG is delighted that The Tax Journal has agreed to publish most of the papers presented at the conference and also to include an extra paper by James Aitken (on page 25) in which he puts the case for starting a Scottish...
