Military
reservists will be able to access the self-employment income support scheme (SEISS),
and those returning to work in the coming months will be eligible for the coronavirus
job retention scheme (CJRS).
The Treasury has confirmed that, although the CJRS is now closed to
new entrants, military service personnel returning to their day jobs after a
period of active duty will still qualify for furlough, providing they work for
an employer which has previously furloughed employees. The chancellor has also
confirmed that self-employed army, navy and airforce reservists who are
currently ineligible for the SEISS as a result of their service will be able to
access a grant. The Treasury is expected to publish further information
shortly.
