Tax Evasion — Public Accounts Committee Report

 
Paul Noble and Lisa Knight of Ernst & Young's Tax Risk Management Group consider the recent report by the Committee of Public Accounts on the Inland Revenue's efforts in fighting tax fraud
 
In a previous article (Prevention Is Better Than Cure! The Tax Journal 7 April 2003 Issue 687) we outlined the results of the National Audit Office's (NAO) report on the efforts of the Inland Revenue in tackling tax fraud (this report was issued on 28 February 2003).
 
On the basis of the NAO report the House of Commons Committee of Public Accounts (CPA) also examined the Revenue's performance in dealing with tax fraud. In particular it looked at:
