The past couple of months have seen a marked increase in activity in the equity capital markets (ECM).

In contrast to the M&A sphere (where cash-rich companies still appear reluctant to spend) the equity capital markets are starting to look busier. Those seeking to raise additional capital are taking the opportunity provided by favourable market conditions to issue new equity be it through listing their shares for the first time a rights issue to existing shareholders or by placing new shares with various categories of investor.
