Having attended last year's Butterworth Tolley Stamp Duty conference and as one who regularly advises on property transactions I was eagerly looking forward to this year's. Presented by the Cannon and Nock duo who have done for stamp duty what Cannon and Ball did for comedy and supported by Jan Birtwell of Linklaters I was sure this would be a sizzler.
It was therefore disappointing when in his opening address Patrick Cannon announced that they would not be covering detailed planning points attributing the omission to the presence in the audience of an Inland Revenue officer. Who invited the Revenue? Was...
