HMRC have launched a consultation on the implementation of a new online notification and payment system for vehicles brought into the UK for permanent use on UK roads.
The consultation is described as a joint HMRC/DVLA initiative aimed at ‘countering the high levels of VAT fraud in this area and simplifying the system for all users’. Comments are invited by 31 August 2011.
