A graduate of King’s College, London, Ian Brimicombe trained at Coopers & Lybrand, London (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) from 1986, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Tax Adviser. In 1994, he moved to Zeneca Group PLC. In 1995, he transferred to Alderley Park as Corporate Finance and Tax Manager for the Zeneca Pharmaceuticals business. He returned to Zeneca Corporate Office in London as Deputy Tax Controller to support the divestment of Zeneca Specialties into Avecia Limited, the merger of Zeneca with Astra, and the demerger of Zeneca Agrochemicals into Syngenta AG. From 2001, he has been Head of Group Tax, responsible for global tax strategy and operations and delivery of AstraZeneca's group tax targets. He is also a member of the Hundred Group Fiscal Committee and secretariat to the Business Tax Forum. Ian is also on the Editorial Board of The Tax Journal.
