With all tax professionals' eyes focused on the anti-avoidance debate National Insurance changes might go largely unnoticed. Even the politicians have apparently lost interest in NICs for the moment as the prescribed taxes for the purposes of the new tax avoidance schemes regulations do not include NICs.
 
The recent past has therefore seen little new activity of note with the main news either about catching up with the real taxes that are the core business of the Inland Revenue or fixing past problems.
