Much has changed in the UK since my last column and we now have a new coalition Government and an emergency budget is in the diary for 22 June 2010. At the time of writing the Government has just published its second policy document 'The Coalition: our programme for government' following the Chancellor's speech to the CBI on 19 May. The document includes a comment that 'Our aim is to create the most competitive corporate tax regime in the G20' which is clearly a positive statement of intent. In his CBI speech when discussing the corporate tax system George Osborne said 'As well as lower rates and a simpler system I want to reform the complex Controlled Foreign Companies rules that have driven businesses overseas. I want multinationals coming to the UK not leaving.'...
