About 20 years ago I was diagnosed with depression. After being made redundant I spent five years working for TaxAid which was without doubt not only the most worthwhile work I have ever undertaken but gave me the space I needed to fully recover. I am now a qualified mental health first-aider a mental health advocate and a wellbeing champion. This article strays from Tax Journal’s usual style as in places – and for emphasis – I have described some my personal battle with mental health.
